Peter Freund’s digital images explore the visual image as an absence, negation or erasure of the visible. Freund discusses the principle of a “digital tomb” in his series of conceptual prints.




The Museum is featuring hand made items in the Gift Shop the entire month of May.  Please come by and take a look at these locally made and beautifully crafted works of art.  Items include: jewelry, glass, wood, textiles and pottery.

Discussing the overlapping relationship between trauma and desire, Peter Freund explores a parallel between artistic and psychoanalytic practices.



Wednesday, May 10 at 1:00 - Alternative Facts

“Alternative facts” - a symptom of neoliberal freedom? In this talk, Peter Freund will explore the paradoxical connection between facts and fantasy in political thinking, highlighting three works of video art in his current exhibition.

Guest Speaker Luncheon: Hossein Khosrowjah, Reconciliations and Desires

Hossein Khosrowjah will explore the complexity and importance of "cultural translation" in the contemporary political climate. His talk will use Peter Freund's IRAN|USA exhibition as a springboard for investigating the role of translation and mistranslation in defining the cultural Other.

Please join us at the Museum for this talk by Professor Khosrowjah. The event is free of charge with a reception to follow after the talk. 

Hossein Khosrowjah is a senior adjunct professor of visual studies at the California College of the Arts. His essays and reviews on a broad range of topics, from film to exilic autobiography to the history of American higher education, have been published in film, cultural, and area studies journals. His book, The Singular Cinema of Abbas Kiarostami, is forthcoming from I.B. Tuaris Press.
