1. Successful completions of all required courses totalling 60 units

Creating your academic plan with the help of your advisor is the key for a prompt and successful completion of your course-work requirements.  At the end of your last June, once all grades have been published, the Registrar will conduct a degree audit to confirm that all coursework requirements, including both components of your thesis, have been met.

2. Successful completions of thesis research paper and project

The Thesis course is the culmination of the MFA in Dance; it is designed for the student to conduct his/her own independent research that will culminate with the final presentation of the Thesis project. The student’s creative process is guided and supervised by the Thesis chair assigned to him/her. During the last two terms of the MFA course of study, the student is expected to finish the two components of the Thesis project: (1) creation of the Thesis artistic work and (2) written document. Both of these Thesis elements are intended to be a substantial and thoroughly researched piece of work and must demonstrate the knowledge and understanding gained in all the other parts of the MFA program.

3. Petition for Candidacy

In order for the MFA degree in Dance to be granted, students are required to fill out this Petition for Candidacy form. The Petition for Candidacy Form must be completed no later than Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

*Note: diplomas are sent to the permanent address on record with the Office of the Registrar. Please be sure this is accurate with their office. Diplomas may be sent up to 4 months after successful completion of all degree requirements.

4. Degree Processing Fee

This $120 fee covers the processing of your degree and will be attached to your final Spring Term billing cycle. All students, regardless of whether or not they plan to participate in commencement ceremonies, must pay this fee to have their degree processed.  Degrees will not be awarded until all fees are paid.

5. Thesis upload to ProQuest

Once the final draft of your thesis document has been signed off by your Thesis Chair and other required signees, you will upload your thesis to ProQuest.  You are able to order bound copies of your document through the ProQuest website.
