Master of Arts in Montessori Education

The path to a Master’s in Montessori Education.

Special note: This program requires students to have completed a Montessori teaching credential (Early Childhood or Elementary) at Saint Mary’s College.

Earning a credential in Montessori Education is your first step toward a rewarding career. But you can make an even greater impact on young learners—and increase your salary, too—with a Master of Arts in Montessori Education.  This graduate program offers you the opportunity for further intensive study in the field, including carrying out an original research study. 


Course of study:

The Master’s program requires the completion of either a research-based thesis or a thesis project. Your thesis or project will be completed under the supervision of a faculty chair and reader. The Master’s degree can be completed in as little as three terms, depending on the specific project undertaken by the student.

  • EDUC 572 Research Seminar 1
  • EDUC 582 Research Seminar 2
  • EDUC 592 Thesis or 597 Thesis Project

Total units for Credential and Master’s:  38
